On Thursday, September 3rd, Tiffin University's football team played a home game against Walsh University. This was the season opener for both schools as well as a GLIAC conference game. I designed a schedule of upcoming TU athletic events for the PA announcer to tell the crowd during the game. We met at the athletic offices to load up merchandise for our booth at 5:00PM (approximately two hours before the game). After we loaded the shirts, sweaters, and hats into the van we drove to the stadium to set up. The photo booth supplies were already at the stadium when we got there so me and my colleague Carey set up the Tiffin Dragons back drop with the GLIAC logo. There were props like TU football helmets and jerseys for people to wear while they took their picture with the dragon mascot and cheerleaders. I worked in the merchandise booth until the end of halftime when the tent was closed down, our credit card app on the iPad crashed so we could only take cash and checks. This didn't seem to hurt sales because our merchandise booth was busy for most of the evening. While the game was going on, I tweeted score updates for GoTiffinDragons on Facebook and Twitter. This was my first experience with live score updates but I felt very comfortable due to the fact that I follow many sports teams and their live updates on my personal Twitter. After the game was finished we loaded up the merchandise and left the stadium. I had a lot of fun with my first game day operations experience! Our next meeting for planning is Thursday, September 10th ath 3:00pm.
