Our marketing and promotions team grew to include several new members for the start of basketball season. We discussed the upcoming games and threw around some contest ideas for the games to come. Monday and Tuesday next week have the Dragons hosting men's and women's basketball games. We plan to incorporate an intense basketball shooting competition called "The Guantlet" which we will be testing out until someone beats it. The final shot in the Guantlet is a half court heave so this challenge should be very difficult but also very entertaining for the fans. The first home game of the season is on Monday November 23rd and that is our next assignment.
We drove the box truck to the football stadium to pick up our merchandise. Once everything was loaded we drove back to campus to store it and get ready for basketball season. We also stored everything into new plastic containers because the cardboard boxes were starting to completely fall apart. Some boxes fell apart completely as we brought them in the last time. The old boxes were broken down and recycled and that was all for the day.
We arrived at the stadium and unloaded the merchandise from the locker room area. Once we set up the merchandise booth we started to present it nice and neatly as we always have, but the wind was awful and kept blowing the shirts and hats everywhere. It wasn't a great presentation in terms of looks but we still managed to sell a lot of merchandise for our final football game. We loaded the merchandise back in the locker room area for us to come back and get next week after the end of halftime. Football season went very well for us in terms of merchandise sales and marketing Tiffin University Football.
I went around to the local businesses in town and distributed our military appreciation flyers. I was assigned to distribute flyers in downtown on Washington street. Many local shops were happy to let me leave the flyers with them to help promote our events. Once the flyers were handed out my duties with the street team for the day were complete and my next task was to load the box truck the next day.
After the volleyball game against Michigan Tech had concluded, Dragon Madness was to take place in the gymnasium. Each member of the audience was handed a ticket with a number for their chance to compete in a variety of contests for a chance to win prizes. In addition to the contests the basketball teams had several competitions including a dunk contest by members of the men's team. I stood outside the door to the gym and handed out tickets for the event. After I handed out the tickets the event ran itself so to speak. The tickets were drawn from a basket and contestants were chose for musical chairs, free throw challenge, and the half court shot. The event ran smoothly and had a great turnout.
For the soccer game on Friday the 23rd, our assigned duties were to hand out TU T-shirts and Marcos pizza to the fans. We set up a tent and tables near the soccer stadium and organized the T-shirts by size. By the time the pizza had arrived we had given away most of the shirts so we had more than enough room for the pizzas. As the pizza was being handed out we broke down the boxes and threw them away at the nearby trashcan. When the pizza ran out we put away the tent and tables. After the soccer game some workers were assigned to work the volleyball game vs Michigan Tech, and after the volleyball game Dragon Madness would take place in the gymnasium.
During our meeting on October 20th, we discussed our upcoming events and assigned duties. We focused on Dragon Madness, the annual basketball pep rally, and the soccer and volleyball games All three of these events took place on October 23rd. I was assigned to help out with the soccer game and Dragon Madness. In addition to these duties, I volunteered to prepare some giveaway items for Dragon Madness. I was instructed to come in the next day and prepare these items and to meet at the soccer fields on the 23rd for our duties.
