We met early Saturday morning to load up the merchandise in the box truck. The merchandise booth took in a fair amount of business during the game compared to the others. Marcos Pizza had a few giveaway items for us to handout including beach balls. These beach balls had Sharpie marker written on them for redeemable items at Marcos such as a one topping pizza. At the end of the first half we selected four contestants for our Hutt Hutt Hike challenge. The game went very well as both teams of contestants understood the rules very clearly and played the game without any issues. After the game had concluded, we handed out the remaining volleyballs and T-shirts as wells as coupons for free cheesy bread at Marcos. At the end of halftime we loaded up our merchandise and concluded for the day.
Our team met a few days before our next big assignment, the football game against Ferris State on the 10th. In an attempt to draw in more fans, we designated this game as Community Day. We encouraged everyone to come and contacted local schools to help get the word out about our event. We even partnered with Marcos Pizza for promotional giveaways. We came up with a new game idea we called Hutt Hutt Hike! In this game, two teams of two competed against each other for the top prize of a giftbag while the second place team won Marcos Pizza cheesy bread. One member of the team snapped small foam balls like a football to their teammate holding a hoop. The team that made the most after 30 seconds would be declared the winner.
For our Homecoming game against Wayne State, we packed up the merchandise in the box truck early in the morning. I stopped by the Heminger Center and picked up the photo booth materials so we could use it at the game before loading the merchandise. We setup our merchandise stand as well as the photo booth well in advance. The photo booth needed to be tied down due to wind at the stadium. During the game, plenty of fans came to browse our selection at the merchandise stand. Many of them purchased TU gear for friends and family at the game. We did not do any promotional games for the Homecoming game with all of the ceremonies taking place at halftime. After halftime ended, we loaded up the photo booth and merchandise to take back to our storage area. Both activities generated a lot of interest and our merchandise stand had a lot of sales so our homecoming game went very well.
During the Hall of Fame Banquet on October 2nd, my colleague Carey and I were assigned to operate the photo booth we had setup in the upstairs portion of the Heminger Center. While guests enjoyed the banquet and mingled with each other, they had the option of having their photo taken at the booth for our social media sites. Carey walked around and informed our guests of the photo booth while I took the photos. At first, I could not figure out the camera. I hadn't used a digital camera in quite some time, especially not one this fancy. After I had got the camera up and running the photo booth ran smooth. When the ceremony started, we packed up the photo booth and our duties were finished. The next day was our homecoming football game vs. Wayne State University.
Our team met on September 29th to discuss our upcoming events. Our biggest events coming up were the Hall of Fame Banquet on October 2nd, followed by our homecoming football game against Wayne State University the next day. We discussed event ideas for each event and assigned group members duties. I was assigned to photograph attendees at the Hall of Fame Banquet. We setup the photo booth upstairs in the Heminger Center for attendees to have an optional photo that we would upload to our social media sites. For the football game, we decided to have the photo booth once again as well as our merchandise stand.
For the women's soccer game against the University of Findlay on September 23rd, Joelle and I handed out a select number of T-shirts for the first 50 or so people that attended the game. There were plenty of fans on hand so when we started handing out the shirts they went fairly quick.
On September 15th, TU held a vollleyball match against Glenville State. We decided to have two games take place during the match and held them at the end of the first two sets. Our first game involved two 4 player teams that had to lay on the ground and pass the ball back to one another without using their hands. After selecting the teams from the crowd, we explained to them the rules and the two teams competed for wristbands and T-shirts. The second game we held involved two teams of two. One player on each team held a hula hoop and the other player had to set a volleyball through the hoop. We selected the teams and explained to them the rules just like before. I took photos of the games going on for our social media sites. The team with the most points at the end of the game would win a T-shirt and wristband. After both games had ended, we took the winners photos and uploaded them to social media.
